Description
Pixco EMF AF Confirm Mount Adapter Ring for Canon FD Lens to Canon EOS EF 5DIII 6D 70D 700D
Product Description
This is an EMF chip programmable adapter ring designed specifically for macro and close-up photography, enabling the use of classic manual lenses on modern digital bodies. Its smart chip allows users to customize lens parameters (max aperture, focal length, focus micro-adjustment) and write data to EXIF. Please note, this adapter is optimized for close-up and macro work and DOES NOT support infinity focus. Crafted from aluminum alloy with a locking screw, it ensures a secure connection. The focus confirmation feature aids precise manual focusing, making it an ideal tool for close-ups, still life, and product photography.
Key Features
1.Programmable Smart Chip: Allows customization and storage of your lens's maximum aperture, focal length (1-65535mm), and focus micro-adjustment (0-31 steps) for accurate focus confirmation and EXIF data.
2.Macro/Close-up Optimized: This adapter is designed for close-up and macro photography and CANNOT achieve infinity focus. Perfect for close-ups, still life, and reproduction work.
3.Flexible Aperture Control: Supports setting aperture values (F/1.1-F/64) directly on the camera body for a flexible exposure workflow.
4.Focus Confirmation Signal: Activates the camera's viewfinder focus confirmation indicator and beep when accurate manual focus is achieved, improving focusing efficiency.
5.Secure Mechanical Design: Features an aluminum alloy body with a locking screw for a tight, secure, and rattle-free connection between lens, adapter, and camera.
Important Precautions Before Use
1.Function Limitation: This is a glass-free adapter that does not support infinity focus, suitable only for shooting at limited distances.
2.Handle with Care: Do not touch the golden contact points on the chip's circuit board during installation or removal.
3.Avoid Accidental Mode Entry: Do not use the "F/64+shutter -> F/57+shutter -> F/64+shutter" sequence during normal shooting, as it activates programming mode. If entered accidentally, set an aperture between F/6.3 and F/51 and press the shutter once to exit.

Not Compatible With: Will NOT work with EOS 30, 30V, 33V, and 1D series cameras.
Basic Shooting Methods
You can shoot using either of the following methods:
Method 1 (Records Set Aperture in EXIF):
Set the lens aperture ring to its maximum aperture.
Set the desired aperture value on the camera body.
Focus and meter. Once focused, turn the lens aperture ring to match the aperture set on the camera.
Press the shutter button. (EXIF records the set aperture)
Method 2 (Does Not Record Set Aperture, Uses Av Mode):
Set the camera aperture value to the lens's maximum aperture.
Set the camera to Av (Aperture Priority) mode.
Set the desired aperture on the lens aperture ring.
Focus, meter, and shoot. (EXIF records the lens's maximum aperture)
Detailed EMF Chip Setup Guide
The adapter ships with default settings of 50mm F/1.4. Reprogram it according to your lens's specifications for accurate focus confirmation.
1. Entering Programming Mode
With the camera power OFF, attach the adapter with lens to the camera. Power ON.
Set the camera to M (Manual) mode, Single shooting drive mode, 1/60s shutter speed, 1/3 EV aperture step.
Perform this sequence: Set aperture to F/64 and press shutter -> Set to F/57 and press shutter -> Set to F/64 and press shutter.
In programming mode, the maximum aperture can be set to F/1.0.
2. Programming Modes & Value Entry Rules
There are THREE programming modes, entered by a specific aperture + shutter:
Mode 0 (Set Max Aperture): Set aperture to F/2.0, press shutter.
Mode 1 (Set Focal Length): Set aperture to F/2.2, press shutter.
Mode 2 (Set Focus Micro-Adjust): Set aperture to F/2.5, press shutter.
Aperture-to-Number Conversion Chart (for entering values):
F/2.0=0, F/2.2=1, F/2.5=2, F/2.8=3, F/3.2=4, F/3.5=5, F/4.0=6, F/4.5=7, F/5.0=8, F/5.6=9
3. Parameter Setting Steps
Setting Maximum Aperture (Range: F/1.1 - F/45):
Enter Mode 0 (F/2.0+shutter).
Set the aperture dial to your lens's actual maximum aperture (e.g., F/1.8), press shutter to confirm.
Note: Do not set to F/1.0 (reserved) or slower than F/5.6 (may affect AF system performance).
Setting Focal Length (Range: 1mm - 65535mm):
Enter Mode 1 (F/2.2+shutter).
Focal length must be entered as a 5-digit number, adding leading zeros if necessary. E.g., 50mm is "00050": F/2.0(0)+shutter -> F/2.0(0)+shutter -> F/2.0(0)+shutter -> F/3.5(5)+shutter -> F/2.0(0)+shutter.
Setting Focus Micro-Adjustment (Range: 0 - 31):
Enter Mode 2 (F/2.5+shutter).
The value must be entered as a 2-digit number, adding a leading zero if necessary. E.g., 8 is "08": F/2.0(0)+shutter -> F/5.0(8)+shutter.
Note: This value should be determined through practical shooting tests, not calculation alone.
4. Saving Settings & Exiting
After entering all parameters, save them by performing this sequence:
Set aperture to F/57 and press shutter -> Set to F/64 and press shutter -> Set to F/57 and press shutter.
If input is correct, settings are saved to the chip (retained when powered off). If incorrect, the adapter exits programming mode without saving.
